Ezek a felvételek inkább az akkori ötvenes évek fiataljait fogja inkább felvillanyozni a dalok hallatán. A felvételeket az eredeti LP átírása után digitális technológiával - restaurálással - kijavítva tettem ismét élvezhetőbbé azok számára akik szeretik ezeket a dallamokat.

JAMHUNTERS "Music speaks louder than words"

On 15 March, Gateway Music will release Jamhunters' second album: MUSIC SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS.
The 13 new tracks are all original, the genre is smooth jazz/lounge and also this album was recorded in the Jamhouse studio. The musicians behind Jamhunters are Peter Michael on keyboard and Lars Fabiansen on guitar.
Several well known guests have been assembled to play along with Jamhunters. Artists like Hans Ulrik,
Klaus Menzer, Christina Boelskifte, André Sorensen, Bo Fabiansen, Claus Suhr and Moussa Diallo.
Chris Minh Doky is also guest performing on the album. Chris Minh Doky is normally based in New York, but visited the Jamhouse studio in Copenhagen and recorded 2 tracks. Chris Minh Doky is widely recognised for his passionate delivery and exceptional skill and his distinctive and personal style and sound adds special warmth to the tracks: NO ONE LIKE YOU and MUSIC SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS.
Jamhunters' second guest performer from New York is Frank Senior. He was born and raised in Harlem where jazz played
a major role in his musical career and that is very clearly reflected in his singing. "We ran into Frank in New York last autumn.
We were there to play a few club gigs and accidentally heard Frank humming to a live band. We simply had to persuade him to work with us on our next album", says Lars from Jamhunters. Listen to Frank on the track: ONE MORE MINUTE.
Jamhunters' first album was well received in the US – the homeland of smooth jazz - and the duo therefore visited
New York to play live before an American audience. The internet radio station Smooth Jazz and More reviewed Jamhunters first album: "This CD surprised me with its acid jazz and uptempo beats. It's a huge surprise and my pick for best CD of 2006".
Jamhunters is planning another trip to New York in the summer of 2008.
Please reply by mail if you require additional information, promotion material or a CD or contact Maria Christensen at postmaster@jamhunters.dk

Bonerama, the New Orleans horn band boasting four trombones, seems
to have tired of beginning its album titles with the word "Live"
(Live at the Old Point, Live from New York), so the group's third
album is not called "Live from Tipitina's" even though it is; it's
called Bringing It Home, which is also accurate, since Bonerama
was formed at Tipitina's nightclub in New Orleans in 1998. If the
Dirty Dozen Brass Band revised notions about a horn outfit's sound
and repertoire, Bonerama takes those revisions a step further. Its
ensemble sound sometimes suggests the rock group Chicago and
sometimes a small, well-rehearsed college marching band. Although
many of the tunes are originals by the bandmembers, the selections
that stand out are the surprising covers, such as Led Zeppelin's
"The Ocean" and two songs from the Beatles The White Album, "Yer
Blues" and "Helter Skelter." The arrangements replace some of the
guitar parts with horn parts, naturally, but the influence of
classic rock, particularly of Jimi Hendrix, remains in guitarist
Bert Cotton's acid-tinged lead work. To demonstrate its jazz
chops, Bonerama also turns in a strong cover of Thelonious Monk's
"Epistrophy." Yet for all this eclecticism, the group remains at
its core a New Orleans horn band, and by the end of the set it has
evoked Louis Armstrong and the Meters before ending with a hidden
track that is a musical commercial for another city nightspot, all
of which confirms that the group's decision to keep recording live
albums, especially at its home base, is a good one.

LP Mainstream, 1974
Sweet electric 70s funk from Blue Mitchell -- blowing here in some of the hippest arrangements of his career! Blue's trumpet alone is always pretty darn great, but for this album he's working with arranger Dave Matthews -- who gives the tunes fierce groove that mixes vamping guitars with snapping drums -- sort of picking up the groove that Matthews forged with James Brown, but allowing for a lot freer jazz interplay! The guitars are often recorded in a cool way that has them sounding a bit "watery" alongside the rhythms -- so much so, you'd swear they were keyboards at times -- and this approach sounds really great underneath Blue's tighter, harder, more punctuated solos over the top of the tracks. Additional support comes from horn players Joe Farrell and Seldon Powell -- and titles include "Funk Walk", "Blue Funk", "Funny Bone", "Golden Feathered Bird", "Harmony Of The Underworld", and "Hot Stuff".

Woody Herman

Powered by Oxford University Press.

Woodrow Charles (1913-1987) Bandleader, clarinetist, alto saxophonist, and singer
After early experience in Chicago with the bands led by Tom Gerun and Harry Sosnik, Woody Herman toured with Gus Arnheim. In 1934, he joined Isham Jones, and when Jones's group disbanded in 1936 Herman used its leading sidemen as the nucleus for his own orchestra. This band went through a number of changes of personnel, such as the inclusion in 1943 of Chubby Jackson and in 1944 of Neal Hefti, Ralph Burns, Flip Phillips, and Bill Harris (by the mid-1940s, under the name Herman's Herd, it was internationally famous for the force and originality of its music. Herman reformed the band in 1947, and the distinctive feature of the Second Herd was the group of saxophonists (three tenor and one baritone) who came to be known as the Four Brothers; among the musicians who played in the section were Serge Chaloff, Stan Getz, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, and Gene Ammons.

After the demise of the Second Herd in 1949, Herman continued to lead bands; these were perhaps less creative, but their consistently high level of musicianship assured his continuing reputation. The Anglo-American Herd, which he organized in 1959, was significant in the history of English Jazz; another of the more distinctive later bands, the Swinging Herd, was formed in 1962 and featured such excellent soloists as Bill Chase, Phil Wilson, and Sal Nistico. Herman broadened his scope in the late 1960s, when he took up soprano saxophone and included young jazz-rock players in his groups. He toured widely in the 1970s, and in the early 1980s held a residency in a club in New Orleans. Thereafter he worked principally on the West Coast, before taking up another residency in the St. Regis Hotel, New York, in 1985. He celebrated his 50th anniversary as bandleader with the formation of a new orchestra in 1986.

Although Herman's instrumental expertise was considerable, his essential importance was as an organizer. His rare ability to assemble and sustain bands notable for the quality of their musicians grew especially clear in the late years of World War II, when his group consisted of brilliant improvisers whose ensemble playing was exuberant and incisive; Igor Stravinsky was so impressed by its sound that in 1945 he composed his Ebony Concerto for the band. The harmonic procedures of bop influenced Herman's next orchestra even more deeply, confirming his freedom from the contemporary sectarianism in jazz. The ebullient Lemon Drop (1948) with its succession of exciting improvisations illustrates Herman's shrewd open-mindedness as a bandleader as do more overtly ambitious recordings like the two-part Lady McGowan's Dream (1946) and the four-part Summer Sequence (1946-7), both composed by Burns.

Zoller Attiláról elmondható, hogy igen neves világhírű előadókkal játszott együtt, Amerikától Európn keresztül egészen Japánig. Simon Géza Gábor nemrélgiben egy könyvet is kiadott " Mindhalálig gitár " címmel. Ebben próbálva összefoglalni a zenei munkáit és életét.

The Hungarian-born Attila Zoller was never quite a household name, but jazz musicians in the know considered him one of the music's finest and most original guitarists. After initially achieving a reputation as an excellent bop-oriented player, Zoller developed an interest in free jazz, and in the '60s became one of the music's most accomplished practitioners.

As a child, Zoller was taught classical violin by his father, a professional violinist. In his teens, he switched to flügelhorn, then jazz bass, and finally guitar. Zoller quit school during the Russian occupation of Hungary following World War II and began playing professionally in Budapest jazz clubs. He escaped Hungary in 1948 just before the permanent Soviet blockade of the country, hiking across the mountains to Austria, carrying just his guitar and a few articles of clothing. Zoller became an Austrian citizen, settling in Vienna, where he formed a jazz group with the accordionist Vera Auer. Zoller moved to Germany in the '50s, where he played with pianist Jutta Hipp and saxophonist Hans Koller. Visiting American musicians (notably Oscar Pettiford and Lee Konitz) admired Zoller's work and urged him to move to the U.S., which he did in 1959 after winning a scholarship to the Lenox School of Jazz. There he studied with Jim Hall and roomed with Ornette Coleman, whose influence sparked Zoller's interest in free jazz. Zoller played in drummer Chico Hamilton's group in 1960 and with flutist Herbie Mann from 1962-1965. In 1965, Zoller began leading a free jazz-influenced group with the pianist Don Friedman, and in 1968 co-led a group with Konitz and trombonist Albert Mangelsdorff. Zoller never turned his back on more traditional forms of jazz, playing swing with vibist Red Norvo and clarinetist Benny Goodman, and bop with saxophonist Stan Getz, among many others. In 1974, Zoller founded the Attila Zoller Jazz Clinics in Vermont (Zoller incorporated in 1985 and the clinics became the Vermont Jazz Center). He remained active as a performer — in the U.S. and overseas — until the end of his life. During the '80s and '90s, he recorded several albums for the Enja label with such artists as vibist Wolfgang Lackerschmidt and guitarist Jimmy Raney, as well as longtime collaborators Konitz and Friedman.

A közelmúltban szerepelt egy válogatás három igen neves muzsikussal, akik trióban játszottak. Akkor is felmerült az a dolog, hogy bizony nehéz hárman igazán ütős muzsikát játszani. Nos most itt egy másik válogatás, mondhatnám - a melankólikus világból származtatott és csodálatosan előadott természetesen triók halmaza! A listában szereplő nevek, úgyérzem magukért beszélnek. A felvételek nagy többsége a 60-as, és 70-es évekből származik.

Mantovani was born in Venice, Italy and his father was the concertmaster of the La Scala orchestra under Arturo Toscanini. His family moved to England in 1912, where he studied at Trinity College of Music in London. After graduation, he formed his own orchestra, which played in and around Birmingham. By the time World War II broke out, his orchestra was one of the most popular in England,[citation needed] both on the BBC and in live performances.

He was also musical director for a large number of musicals and other plays, including ones by Noel Coward. After the war, he concentrated on recording, and eventually gave up live performance altogether. He worked with arranger and composer Ronnie Binge, who developed the "cascading strings" sound (also known as the "Mantovani sound").[citation needed] His records were regulars in stores selling hi-fi stereo equipment, as they were produced and arranged for stereo reproduction. In 1952 Binge ceased to arrange for Mantovani, but his distinctive sound remained.

He recorded for Decca until the mid-1950s, and then London Records. He recorded over 50 albums on that label, many of which were top-40 hits. These included Song from Moulin Rouge and Cara Mia, which reached No. 1 in Britain in 1953 and 1954, respectively. The latter was also Mantovani's first U.S. Top Ten hit.

In the United States, between 1955 to 1972, he released over 40 albums, with 27 reaching the Top 40 and 11 the Top Ten. His biggest success was with the album Film Encores, which made it to No. 1 in 1957. Similarly, Mantovani Plays Music From 'Exodus' and Other Great Themes made it to No. 2 in 1961 and sold over one million albums.

Mantovani made his last recordings in 1975

The cascading strings technique developed by Binge became Mantovani's hallmark in such hits arranged by Binge as "Charmaine". Binge developed this technique to replicate, by arrangement alone, the echo, experienced in venues such as cathedrals, in an echo-free surrounding.

Author Joesph Lanza describes Mantovani's string arrangements as the most "rich and mellifluous" of the emerging light music style during the early 1950s. He stated that Mantovani was a leader in the use of new studio technologies to "create sound tapestries with innumerable strings", and that "the sustained hum of Mantovani's reverberated violins produced a sonic vaporizor foreshadowing the synthesizer harmonics of space music."[1]

Since his death at his home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in 1980, his music has enjoyed a minor revival,[citation needed] with much of his catalogue reappearing on CD and an orchestra bearing his name performing concert tours. The saleability of the Mantovani name is underscored by new recordings being made as the Mantovani Orchestra. Unfortunately, a large number of CDs are also available of unauthorized recordings, billed as Mantovani or Mantovani Orchestra.[citation needed] There have also been CDs released under the Mantovani name of recordings made by others while Mantovani was still alive.[citation needed] Thus, consumers of this music are advised to familiarize themselves with the conductor's discography. Material with the London Records logo on it is apt to be genuine Mantovani, while other recordings are less likely to be actual Mantovani recordings.

LUBOMÍR PLEVA (harmonica)
PAVEL KUHN’S CHORUS
OSTRAVA RADIO POPS ORCHESTRA
Conductor: PAVEL STANÉT

Few peopie can probably be found in the musicaily more sophisticated countries who have not, at some moments in their lives, tried to piay the harmonica and learn the way its pitch is manipulated by exhaiing and inhaling. Harmonica playing Is similarly widespread as, for instance, table-tennis, and a similarly wide gulf lies between an incidental pingpong dilettante and a celluloid-ball magician from (let us say) Japan, as between someone who can manage “Jingle Belis” on the mouth.organ, and a real virtuoso master of the popular tiny instrurnent.
LUBOMIR PLEVA, b. July 31, 1929, at Grygov near Olomouc, Is a true master of the harmonica, or rather the chromonica, a version of the instrument which features ali 12 notes in the octave. Since this LP recording was meant to give Pleva the opportunity to employ the full range of his technique, the entire Side 1 features compositions dominated by virtuoso elements, or concert compositions in which Pleva can demonstrate his breathing technique, his phrasing, and the entire array of the skilis of a fine instrumental soloist. Side2features Pieva in lyric compositions or entertainment numbers. Throughout, his partner Is the Ostrava Radio Pops Orchestra under Pavel Stank, a body which shows how many reaiiy good instrumentalists can be found even in Czechoslovakia’s less well-known ensembies. The reai co-author of this recording is arranger Zbyek Bittmar, also of Ostrava, who knows sufficiently the potential of this special instrument, and with whom our soioist has had a working partnership since his very first public appearances.
Lubomír Pieva took up music-making at the age offive when he started to study the violin, and upon his graduation from secondary schooi he had to choose between a musical or a sports career. Sport—track and field —won, and Pleva graduated in 1953 from the University of Olomouc as secondary school teacher of physical education. However, his interest in music had not waned: Pleva was the leader of the university’s cymbalom band, from time to time he played the bass in jazz bands, and his fans at the University Ciub often made him perform the harmonica skills he had practised on the long trips to sports meets. In 1955, Plevafirst performed at Czechoslovakia’s top amateur music competition — and placed first. (50 did he in ali the competitions in CSSR in which he took part later.) At that time he was already recording for the Brno Radio, and his success with the listeners also brought him engagements with the Ostrava Radio. Pleva has recorded by
now some 150 highly varied items far broadcasting purposes, pius incidental music far films, theatrical stages and TV shows. His international successes have also become increasingly notable since his first performance — in 1964 — far the taperecording competition organized by the Fédération lnternationale de l’Harmonica at Trossingen. He first appeared in person at the 1968 Harmonica Weltfestspiele at Lucerne, where he placed 3rd, but in a similar competition at Eindhoven (Holland) he was already lst in the harmonetta category (the harmonetta is roughly speaking — a harmonica with a keyboard), and finally, in 1972, he managed a “grand slam” at Baarn (Holland), where he placed first in both categories, and on top of that won the Main Festivai Prize far the best artistic performance. With that, Pleva secured a permanent position among the world’s best harmonica blowers, not only through his technical skill, but also because of the extensive range of his repertoire, from classical subjects to jazz improvisation. He has achieved ali that as an amateur: his actual profession is still that of secondary school teacher at Plerov, a mediumsize Moravian town.

Wendell Marshall (bass)
Roy Haynes (drums)
Rudy Van Gelder (recording engineer)
Recorded 03 June 1960 at
the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, N. J.

Betty Roché should have been much more famous. She had two barely documented periods with Duke Ellington's orchestra and recorded three excellent albums as a leader from 1956-1961 (all of which are available on CD), but then faded away into complete obscurity. This reissue (which is mistakenly given the incorrect date of January 24, 1961, which was actually Roché's following release) matches the singer with tenor saxophonist Jimmy Forrest, organist Jack McDuff (near the beginning of his career), guitarist Bill Jennings, bassist Wendell Marshall, and drummer Roy Haynes. Roché performs nine famous standards, coming up with fresh variations in her phrasing to such numbers as "Come Rain or Come Shine," "When I Fall in Love," "Blue Moon," and "Billie's Bounce." Recommended, as are all of the other recordings in her slim discography.

Hungarian Radio Recording, Made in Hungary ( P ) 1977

Csík Gusztáv a magyar jazz kiemelkedő képviselője, 1945-ben Egerben született. Zenei tanulmányait a miskolci kanzervatóriumban folytatta. A magyar jazzélet legjelentősebb alkatáműhelyében, a Rádiá stúdiáiban végzett eredményes munkájáért, kompozícióiért többször is nyert kitüntető címeket (p1. „A legjobb szólista” díj 1972-ben). Rendszeresen szerepelt az NSZKban, Svájcban, a skandináv országokban, Csehszlovákiában, Jugoszláviában. Kam pozícióinak sajátsága a rock talajra ültetett melodikus improvizációi. Berkes Balázs, a Rádió együttesének, a Stúdió-nek állandó basszus-játékosa adja elő Csík kampozícióinak olykor rendkívüli ritmus-igényű basszusgitár ill. bőgő szólamát. Jávory Vilmos, dobos immár két esztendeje nélkülözhetetlen megvalósítója Csík rockos kampozíciói ritmusának, de saját tehetségét, temperomentumát is kifejezésre tudja juttatni rövid, átgondolt, bonyolult szólóiban.

A Tűzkerék Revival Band 1990-ben alakult. Radics Béla és Jimy Hendrix számait játszotta.. Később tagcserék miatt a nevüket Tűzkerék R.B.-re változtatták. A változások a zenei koncepciót nem befolyásolták, továbbra is blues alapú rock zenét játszottak. A túzkerék XT. 2002 nyrától tró formában működött tovább.

Ők voltak a XX. század legjelentősebb gitáros géniuszai.

A zenekar szinte a legnagyobb slágereit játsza ezen a lemezen.

The Rare Earth entitled disc of In Concert , which in 1971 cost onto an expenses, one can be said rock musical production is to classic . I came across the loose-leaf album , in the days which I forgot for a long time . These old discs bring the old fair weathers back . His largest number ones let the military band almost play hereupon on disc . He was the loose-leaf album living taking up .
I sent a note to this musical matter , and I coopered it up . The printing plate originally ongoing volume of voice , so serially written , pilfer it 200 msecs he is strictly between number , the he is asking what as crack he may hear that because of mp3 .

Első felvételük a Magyar Rádióban, Budapesten 1970-ben készült.
Azóta folyamatosan kapnak meghívásokat minden olyan nemzetközi jazzfesztiválra, ahol oldtimer jazzt is játszanak. (1972: Prága, 1973: Drezda, 1974: Varsó, 1975: Bratislava, Drezda)
Rendszeres fellépéseik állandó színhelye a szegedi Oldtimer Klub, a dixieland muzsikusok kedvelt találkozóhelye. A hat megrendezésre kerülő Szegedi Jazz Napok nemzetközi hangversenyének szervezésében
és előkészítésében a zenekar tagjai szerepet játszanak.
A Molnár Dixieland (Szeged Oldtimers) programján elsősorban a kezdeti időszakának örökzöldjei szerepelnek, a zenekar- Molnár Gyula hangszerelésében, amely elsősorban a közremúködők ambiciózus szólistajátékára épít.
Figyelemre méltó a zongorista Garay Márta temperamentumos éneklése.
lemezen hallható számok az 1976. évi Szegedi Jazz Napok alkalmával kerültek felvételre, a Magyar Rádió 8-as stúdiójában.

-----------------------------

In 1965, Szeged, a few university students and amateur musicians came together to found Molnár Dixieland Band (Szeged Old-Timers). They made their first real hit at the Festival of Amateur Musicians in Salgótarján, 1966, where they won first prize and were awarded a golden diploma. They then decided to stay together and continue playing old-timer jazz
Now the make-up of the band: Gyula Molnár — ciarinet; Sándor
Deák — trumpet; Árpád Mucsi — trombone; Mihály Farkas — banjo; Márta Garay — vocal and piano; Balázs Berkes — bass;
László Szabó — tuba; József Bodó Jr. — drums.
Their first recording was made in 1970, Budapest, at the Hungarian Radio. In 1972, at that important encounter of amateur musicians in Perov, Czechosloiakia, they gained the qualification “European Extra Class”. Since that time they have been invited to ali international jazz festivals where old.timer jazz is scheduled for the programme (Prague — 1972; Dresden — 1973; Warsaw — 1974; Bratislava and Dresden — 1975).
Their residence is in Szeged, where they play at the Old-Timer Jazz Ciub, a favourite gathering place for Dixieland musicians. The members of the band have also played an important role in preparing and organizing the Szeged Jazz Days during its six-year history.
Molnár Dixieland favour the evergreens of the initial period of jazz in the arrangement of the leader Gyula Molnár based on the ambitious solos of the members. Despite the strict frame of old-timer style the solos arc light and lively. The piano player Márta Garay’s temperament makes her vocal solos especially worth listening to. The numbers on this record were recorded on the occasion of the Szeged Jazz Days 1976 in Studio Eight of the Hungarian Radio.
